About the role
Every provider handles payor calls a little differently — different payors, different questions, different systems of record, different definitions of "done." A great product doesn't guess at that from a distance; it gets embedded. That's the Forward Deployed Engineer's job: be the person on the ground who understands a customer's world deeply enough to make Delfino work for them, fast.
You will onboard new customers, design the call workflows they need, build the integrations to get requests in and answers out of their systems, and be their technical partner when something is off. You are equal parts engineer, consultant, and product scout — and the feedback loop you create is how the core product gets better.
What you'll do
- Embed with customers to learn their call workflows, payors, and systems in real detail — not from a spec, from the work.
- Design and configure call workflows that match how each customer actually operates.
- Build the integrations that connect Delfino to their EHR, billing, or spreadsheet reality — APIs, scripts, imports, whatever it takes.
- Own onboarding from kickoff to first successful calls, and be the technical face of Delfino for that account.
- Close the loop — turn what you see in the field into concrete product feedback and, often, the first version of the fix.
- Troubleshoot live when a customer's calls aren't going as expected, and drive the resolution.
What we're looking for
- A strong generalist engineer who is energized by talking to customers, not drained by it.
- Comfort writing real code — scripts, integrations, glue — to make things work quickly.
- Excellent communication: you can translate between a billing manager and a backend engineer without either losing the plot.
- Scrappy, resourceful, and comfortable with ambiguity and travel to customer sites when needed.
- Genuine curiosity about how other people's work actually gets done.
Nice to have
- Prior forward-deployed, solutions, or sales-engineering experience.
- Familiarity with healthcare operations, revenue cycle, EHRs, or clearinghouses.
- Experience integrating third-party systems and APIs under real deadlines.
